Coaching

BBG provides executive coaching for individual growth and business success. With the principles of BBG bringing more than 100 years of combined experience in government, non-profits, and business, we offer our clients a full spectrum of coaching services. Couple extensive experience with street-smart savvy, integrity, and academic achievement, we have helped hundreds of clients succeed in both their professional life and the leadership of their organization.

We view executive coaching as a business proposition with the purpose of producing learning, behavioral change, and career growth in you for the economic benefit and continued success of your organization.

How Does BBG Approach Coaching

Coaching is contextual. Even as we help executives with leadership practices, communication effectiveness, career development, strategic initiatives, board relations, personal issues, handling mergers and acquisitions, avoiding bankruptcies, restructuring organizations, and a myriad of other situations facing the executive, BBG understands that coaching happens in an organizational context.

That is why our consulting and senior management experience becomes so vital to help the individual work to improve within the possibilities and constraints of their organization. In fact, we have worked in a variety of organizations, geographies, professions, social structures and with different genders and sexual orientations. We say this because if you, your board members or senior executives need a coach, it all starts with a clear understanding of where you have been and where you are going.

We bring no magic cookie-cutter solutions to your issues, only specific alternatives presented within your organization context and explored within the dialogue of the coaching interaction. That is where our experience counts, because even as unique as your situation is, we have more than likely been confronted with similar scenarios in our past consulting and professional life, and can help put the issues in perspective, generate alternatives for your consideration, and help guide your decision-making, change strategies, and your experimentation with new behaviors.

Tools We Use to Help You

Our approach starts with a discussion of your expected outcomes. We ask the question, what will be different in the future when we have succeeded? Upon agreement of your goals, we mutually develop an action plan. It may include what we will measure and observe, the results and linkages from the coaching sessions for the individual and the organization, and the role and responsibilities of those involved.

Data collection may include performance ratings, retention rates, behavioral changes, ROI, organizational climate survey results, promotions, pay increases, individual interviews, focus groups and feedback from a 360 degree instrument (e.g., leadership abilities, interpersonal acumen, management skills, board effectiveness, etc.). In short, we help the client examine the various communication patterns, practices (amount, follow-up, feedback, context, timeliness, directness, affectation/style, formality, etc.) and influencing skills of the client as well as the patterns of communication in the environment in which they are or will be working.

Creating Success

We believe coaching creates something that is greater than the sum of the parts both for the individual and their organization. Our clients report that they have benefited from more candor (talking about the “undiscussables” and rattling the skeletons hidden in the closets of the organization), more effective communication (better listening and less denial), deeper compassion, better alternatives to dead end and self-defeating behaviors, and practical approaches to personal and organizational issues and problems.
